Flush-mount and standard lights are available to fit your vehicle. Camping sites are numerous, with several right in town and more to either the north or the south along some questionable roads in various states of rough. The camping in Bahia de Los Angeles, although plentiful, is mostly pretty basic. The best camping (for amenities) is directly in front of the motel rooms at Guillermo’s, these spots provide a view and access to the water. Daggett’s is a popular spot with large palapas at each camping site, right on the bay.
Kayaking is also very popular in the area and quite a few of the motels and RV parks rent them out at reasonable rates. Fishing, diving, snorkeling, or sightseeing trips, are easy to arrange. If possible, try to deal directly with the boat owner for the best possible rate.
Auxiliary LED lights can be attached to the front grille, rear bumper, roof bar, and other locations on pretty much any type of two- or four-wheeled vehicle. You can even use some of them in place of the regular headlights. Whether you prefer the all-around LP9 aux light or need rock lights for the wheel wells, these lights will illuminate everything ahead at that flip of a switch.
However, be warned…winds in the Bahia de Los Angeles area can whip up quickly and can be rather strong. Northerly winds, as well as a strong Westerly, can suddenly make the bay “a not so pretty” place. Check with the local fishermen at Guillermo’s, Casa Diaz, Dagget’s, or any of the launching ramps.
There are sixteen islands in and around the bay so the snorkeling, diving, and just plain exploring are usually every bit as good as the fishing. It is also a great place to take your jet skis with lots of “usually” glassy water to play on. Without all the pay-to-enjoy distractions, my family went to more of the gameshows, spent more time at the pools or reading on the balcony and even watched the baby crawling races, which sound bizarre but are very entertaining. Youth staff lead organized activities and games in Edge at certain times during the day, but it also serves as a casual tween hangout spot the rest of the time. There's no fee and no reservations required to come and play in these clubs. However, you will need to get a Magic Band from the kids club that is used to track the kiddos while they are in the clubs. If you return it on the last night of the cruise, you won't be charged for its use.

Review: Oceania Cruises’ Vista
This dinner show was most similar to the Tiana-themed restaurant on Disney Wonder, which is also excellent. Disney Magic set sail on its maiden voyage July 30, 1998, from Florida to the Bahamas. However, the ship has had work done over the years, and not every piece of it is rapidly approaching 25 years old. Believe it or not, it's been almost 25 years since Magic first set sail in 1998, so it truly is an older ship by U.S. cruise line standards.

Although, to manage expectations, there are still some ongoing changes you may experience on your next cruise based on the latest happenings. To address this, the authors retained the COVID Tips featuring Wuffo, the Unofficial Guides’ mascot, for the 2023 edition. With growing fleets, and destinations, there is an unending number of ships and itineraries to navigate though when planning a cruise vacation. Arguably, Disney’s biggest rival in the cruise market is Royal Caribbean.
Disney Magic Early 2023 Sailings
Please do not exacerbate this by calling on a day before you’re eligible; they won’t make an exception and let you cut the line. However, our all-time favorite cruise is the Norwegian Fjords itinerary–by a pretty wide margin. We cover the similarities and differences in Norway v. Alaska Cruises, but the bottom line is that for us, Norway was much better. Others we know who have done both give the edge to Alaska–you really can’t go wrong either way.
The Disney Magic will sail an additional Southern Caribbean cruise afterwards before repositioning to Miami where the ship will be based through September. In October, the Magic will head west through the Panama Canal taking over the Disney Wonder’s itineraries in San Diego into mid-December. Guests can join the fantastical family Madrigal during an all-new immersive experience, “An Encanto Celebration,” designed to engage families through music, crafts and storytelling. The interactive experience gives guests an opportunity to meet and take photos with Mirabel and the family member we don’t talk about, Bruno, during their Disney Cruise Line debut. Families can also join a spirited sing-along of beloved “Encanto” songs and create butterfly and flower crafts inspired by the film. During the show, guests can experience a true taste of South America thanks to a selection of local Colombian beers, cocktails and sodas along with film-inspired mocktails.

Options include the AquaLab pool, Goofy's main pool between the two funnels, a small splash area and the adult pool area. If you go during off hours, such as early or late in the day, it's a great experience. However, the pools aren't nearly large enough for the popularity of a midday swim. A new music-themed venue (decorated in themes from Disney's computer-animated film "Soul"/2020) was created - Soul Cat Lounge (aft on deck 3). Also were introduced new movie-themed entertainment programs for families as well as the "An Encanto Celebration" production show (themed on Disney's animation film "Encanto"/2021). The 3-week refurbishment included general maintenance works and machinery overhauls, as well as renovation of passenger cabins and public spaces.
Enchanting New Entertainment
Also was redesigned the Rainforest Room in the adults-only Senses Spa (steam and hydrotherapy). Following drydock 2023 refurbishment, Disney Magic now has a new venue - Soul Cat Lounge, themed after Disney's computer-animated film "Soul" (2020). There are several places around the US where you can board the Disney Magic; it bounces about between multiple ports throughout the year.
Disney Magic offers a full-service spa onboard the ship, plus many other health and wellness services. This multi-level water playground is a great place for kids to cool off during their cruise. It includes a small pool, a “beach” with geysers and pop jets, pouring “paint” cans and showerheads, leaky pipes, and the amusing Donald’s Boiler – a familiar-shaped contraption that occasionally drenches everyone. In the morning, enjoy all the expected items – made-to-order omelets, bacon, sausage, Mickey Waffles, and such – along with international offerings that might include Huevos Rancheros, rice, and miso soup. I myself don’t usually include gravlax on my breakfast menu at home, but enjoy it as a nice change on my cruise breakfast plate.
This includes at least three Broadway-style shows during your cruise, along with other additions (such as family-friendly comedians, magicians, and hypnotists) on longer voyages. This teens-only retreat is in one of the coolest places on the ship – right inside one of the iconic red smokestack funnels! Those aged 14 to 17 can enjoy a specialty coffee or smoothie while relaxing with newfound friends. Meanwhile, active teens will enjoy dance parties, karaoke sessions, and group activities.
Disney Magic TIPS (totaling US $12 PP per day, automatically charged to guests' shipboard accounts), given to $8 waiters (dining room server $4, assistant server $3, head server $1) and $4 to cabin attendants. Additionally, a 15% gratuity is included on all bar drinks and onboard service areas. For the first time, the Disney Dream summer will begin on May 4th with one last sailing from Miami then embark on her inaugural European season on May 7th with an 13-Night Transatlantic cruise to Barcelona. The summer will feature sailings in the Mediterranean with a heavy dose of Greek Isles. The Disney Dream will embark from Barcelona, Civitavecchia, Copenhagen, and Southampton through September 10th. Travel agents offer Onboard Credit — that’s free spending money that you can use toward purchases you make while you’re onboard the ship!
A special guest makes an appearance during the grand finale, which is when things really transform into full color, accompanied with exciting music and special effects. Otherwise, it's just a large restaurant that gives off major art deco vibes. If you need to miss a restaurant in favor of a meal at Palo or relaxing in your room, I'd pick this one as it's the most generic of the three. New ports of call include the picturesque La Rochelle, France and two new ports in Norway, Skjolden and Sandnes. Tropical Escapes from Texas and New OrleansIn January and February, the Disney Magic will sail from Galveston, Texas, on a variety of four-, five-, six- and seven-night itineraries to the Bahamas and Western Caribbean. Tropical ports of call on these sailings include Grand Cayman as well as Cozumel and Progreso, Mexico. Two ships will sail from Port Canaveral near Orlando, Florida, and a third ship will depart from Miami. Every cruise from Florida includes a visit to Disney’s private island oasis, Castaway Cay. The Disney Wish will continue sailing alternating 3- and 4-night Bahamian cruises from Port Canaveral with Friday and Monday departures.
Disney Wonder Summer 2023 Sailings
This was a relatively basic space compared to the other kid clubs, but this age range is the easiest to impress. Like all Disney ships, the Magic has no casino (there's bingo with good jackpots). One of the features that make the Magic ship a special place to be is the deck parties, the highlight being "The Pirates in the Caribbean" Party - a great, most attended by all age groups themed Disney ship cruise fun.

Further telling the story is custom artwork and pieces referencing the movie, such as record players and labels, musical instruments, cool concert posters and portraits of jazz legend Dorothea Williams and her bandmates. Just in time for its 25th anniversary,Disney Cruise Line has just sprinkled pixie dust on its very first ship — the 1998-launched Disney Magic. Disney just completed enhancing both its hardware and software with inspiration from the parent company’s “Encanto,” “Soul” and “Moana” animated films. The ship's smaller footprint with fewer onboard temptations to spend money can be a benefit in that it's easier to get around and just enjoy — not only the ship but also where it's going. This original Disney ship would benefit from at least one brighter bar or lounge, as the ship can feel cavernous at times.
Disney Wish Summer 2023 Sailings
Italian (Med) cuisine, including superb fish and seafood dishes, the brunch here offers Champagne and cold buffet with seafood and meats, great salads and desserts, and hot made-to-order selections (eggs-meat-fish). The main pool onboard the ship, Goofy’s Pool on deck 9 serves as the family pool onboard. In addition to the large main pool, you’ll also find a couple of whirlpool tubs nearby.
Summer 2023 Onboard Booking Blockout Dates
The Disney Magic will continue sailing a mix of Western Caribbean cruise from Galveston Texas in early 2023 before reposting to New Orleans for a series of additional Western Caribbean cruises. The Disney Magic will reposition from Galveston to New Orleans with crew only on February 7, 2023. The Disney Magic does not have any sailings available beginning April 1, 2023. For your entree, choose from an assortment of offerings such as butternut agnolotti, sea scallops, and grilled prime beef tenderloin. The exclusive interior lounge is newly reminiscent of “Moana” and the film’s tropical colors, and the space has expanded to an extra outdoor covered seating area on Deck 10. What’s more, all the concierge suites — extending to the one- and two-bedroom ones, and the pair of signature royal suites — have been fully refreshed with updated premium fixtures, furniture and art.
Staterooms
In fall 2022 the ship operated 7-day NYC to Bermuda (Kings Wharf) itineraries. Since November 2022, Disney Magic is homeported in Galveston Texas for short-breaks (4-night and 5-night) to Mexico's Cozumel and Progreso. The Unofficial Guide is not a brochure for Disney Cruise Line, the guide is set up as a no-nonsense, consumer orientated planning guide based on the authors’ personal cruise experience as fare paying guests. There are plenty of websites and other publications that will rehash the company line.

Lunch is served as a three-course meal with options like grilled chicken, barbecue pork ribs, and herb-crusted fish. Beverages will even extend to Colombian beers, cocktails, sodas and creative mocktails. It would also be a real plus if Disney Magic integrated a magical scavenger hunt type of activity that you see on other Disney ships. This would layer in one more thing for the kids to do on a sea day or between other activities.

Verandah staterooms offer a private outside balcony which can be accessed through sliding glass doors. Most verandahs have see-through railings (with clear plexiglass for safety), but a few categories have solid metal partitions or are otherwise somewhat obstructed. They do have a round mirror that sort of looks like a porthole, but all you’ll see through it is your reflection. The standard version of this stateroom is the smallest, while the deluxe version is slightly larger.
Round out your meal with creme brulee or a delightful Grand Marnier souffle. On longer cruises, you might also experience Animation Magic, allowing you to draw your own character and see it animated as part of the dinner show! This is one of those amazingly cool experiences that really sets Disney Cruise Line apart from any other offering at sea. The Disney Magic has 875 staterooms, most of which offer an outside view via either a porthole window or a verandah balcony. Staterooms on the ship are divided into four primary types of rooms; each of those four types is further divided into multiple categories and subcategories. The type of room you choose is one of the biggest factors in the price of your cruise, because the per-person cost changes as the stateroom category changes.
The Disney Magic offers a walking/jogging track on Deck 4 that offers close-up ocean views as well as a neat glimpse of some of the heavy machinery that keeps the ship going (should you be into that sort of thing like I am). It’s a great place to take a leisurely stroll after dinner, or take a jog if you’re so inclined. You might even recognize your stateroom host or dinner server – off-duty, of course – out for a run. Starting in late Summer 2023 and continuing through early fall, departures of the Disney Dream from Southampton will feature cruises to a wealth of destinations including Spain, France, the British Isles, Norway and Iceland.
The new spread out tiered booking period will begin Monday May 2nd for Castaway Club Members and some others. Your cruise won’t cost a penny more than if you’d booked it yourself — and it might even cost less!
